| Note | One excellent and amazing specimen of Concholepas concholepas with very nice shell sculpture. This is the largest muricid species found in Chile, and one of the largest gastropods found in northern Chile. They are heavily extracted and their populations are diminishing, as it is an edible species with a large muscle. Usually their shells are very encrusted with encrusting calcareous algae and cirripedian communities, among many other epibionts. This very clean specimen is thus very rare to obtain, and even considering a few chips in the border, it presents very nicely. A very low initial price for an interesting muricid. |
