| Note | This exceptional GIANT specimen of the rare FIJIAN form is the BEST I have ever encountered. The stronghold of the species is the Philippines, with Polynesian examples being exceedingly rare; of a different, more solid overall form; and a different colour: a lemon and dark chocolate shell, adorned with vibrant yellow-orange varices. Hypermature. PERFECTION. Rarely do I urge acquisition, but should a dedicated Muricidae specialist desire a BEST of the best specimen of this almost never offered form, then THIS is the shell to purchase. Data: Rovondrau Reef, Beqa Passage, Viti Levu, Fiji; upon reef substrate, amongst coarse coral sand, at night; 12 m; dived; 1994. Size: 44 mm. Grading: Gem.
