| Note | Enormous, beautiful, moderately elongate, impressive murex palmarosae with intact apex, foliaceous erect structures, spire and siphonal canal. Wonderful tones of light brown and sienna complemented by intricate coffee brown pin-stripping on the main body whorl. The desirable characteristics of this specimen include elaborate striking spines branching into exceptional backswept fronds fringed in subtle shades of dark brown and black. Harvested off the sand next to a coral and rock reef off Mactan Island, Cebu, Philippines by local diver at 2-3 meters circa 1990. The specimen exhibits minor imperfections of the erect structures (spines). Grade: GEM minus. |
