Note | Brilliant example of this much sought after Umbilia, with a distinctive bright golden orange dorsal botch, thick glossy nacre and perfect extremities that are highlighted by darker flesh/desert sand brown and burnt orange hues. The shell is moderately heavy for its size (74.0 grams) and shows remarkable form and a distinctive wide/wavy mantle line paired by rows smaller dots. The shell is wonderfully inflated and well rostrated. Trawled at 160 meters off the western Great Australian Bight, Eucla, Western Australia. There is present a micro-subnacre and negligible longitudinal crease on the anterior labral ramp. Grade: GEM minus. |
