| Note | Striking subspecies from the Australian deep water featuring a dark dorsal botch that glows below an amazing deep nacre. The shell shows a heavy weight/size ratio (50.2 grams), sharp contoured extremities, modestly tuberculated extremity margins and intense spotting of the lateral walls. The specimen shows a gleaming black/brown base, cream colored lateral walls and with well-developed aperture teeth. The praeclara was grabbed from a Bollard sponge by a ROV at 88 meters, west of Southern Zuytdorp Cliffs, Western Australia in 5/2024. The specimen displays a small hard to see glazed chip on the anterior labral basal siphon and two small subnacre blemishes at the edges of the dorsal blotch. Grade: F++/F+++. |
