Gagatis is a new form
of rosselli described by
Felix Lorenz and
Marco Chiapponni.
The description was
published late in 2024
in Molluscan Science
Volume 6. In the area
west of the Southern
Zuytdorp Cliffs and to
the east of Big Bank is
a populated by dwarf
rosselli and ketyana.
This is northwest of
Kalbarri. This form of
rosselli we find in the
same area as we
collect praeclara off
the southern Zuytdorp
Cliffs. They are consistently very small
with narrow dorsal
windows. This jet black
shell has perfect
siphons and has the
classic small distinct narrow
mantle slot. Graded
Gem- as during collection a couple of shallow scratches occurred on it's lower sides. These can be seen in reflected light. Otherwise the shell is gem. This specimen
was collected from
purple globe sponge in
77 meters of water
northwest of
Kalbarri during April
2024.
