| Note | We have just revisited (May 2025) the area where stricklandi live and were extremely disappointed to find that the area has been decimated by the hot water event that has settled on the area for the past five months. Most of the food sponges are dead and even the gorgonian fan corals have been fried and are charred stumps. We have found a very limited number of surviving stricklandi. For this reason we are raising the price on the limited number of specimens on hand. We hope the species will survive but will not know for some years. We intend to leave them alone hopefully to recover. Thank global warming.
Stunning stricklandi collected from a sponge garden in 82 metres west of the Muiron Islands off Exmouth Gulf. Very pretty with brown spots on a cream grey dorsum and a strong burnt orange base. The shell is from our collection and was found in May 2015. Conservatively graded Gem- in case I have missed something but most would consider it a gem. |
