Name | Cymbiola pulchra mariachristina - RARE NEW SUBSPECIES , Pozzi, 2023 |
Size | 55.3 mm |
Locality | Reef 21-281, Swains Reef, QLD |
Note | For offer here is very RARELY SEEN subspecies of C.pulchra. Only described 18 months ago, this form is missing from most collections and drastically varies from C.peristicta of which it was originally thought to be. With a longer spire and heavier pattern/banding than the specimens taken from the nearby Big Sandy Reef, this specimen has all the features of the new subspecies of C.pulchra. Lovely soft PEACH background colour has a single PINK BAND running across the shell which is dotted with intricate black markings. Gem-/F+++ with just some slight growth interruptions around the very tip of the spire but no flaws or damage on the main whorl of the shell. Taken by small dredge in coarse sand which is operating in 5-10m of water. Reef 21-281, Swains Reef off Gladstone, Queensland. 2010. *White marks are from camera reflection.
