| Note | F+++. An unsually fine+/gem Conus ebraeus with a rare pattern of long oblique black lines on the lower part of the body whorl, combined with a pink background color. As all field collectors know, it is a nightmare to collect even a fine shell in this species which likes the very shallows, about 50 cm deep, just below the big waves, where it lives among short algae which are it’s hunting grounds. When storms are there, shells are shaked and rolled, from where the numerous growth lines and damaged periostraca which usually result in eroded shoulders. Nothing of all this in this treasure which apparently was clever enough to hide when the wave became big.
