| Note | GEM. FROM THE SACRED TRINITY IN CONUS. Conus excelsus: A famous species, the early history has been documented by P. Dance in his Rare shells (1969). This is the rarest of the sacred trinity in Conus: C. gloriamaris, C. milneedwardsi and C. excelsus. We did not see splendid excelsus for a couple of years because the tangle nets in Balut have been decimated, so this is once more a major rarity on the market. A light stress line, not a growth line, on the dorsum right and a saturated rich coloration with a wealth of “broken” tents. Pieces of this quality/size combination have always been rare and have nothing to do with old stock pale pieces still around here and there.
