| Note | GEM. MUCH SOUGHT AFTER BY COLLECTORS: DARK CERVUS. For Conologists: I want to attract the attention that there are apparently two forms in this famous species: the smaller ones (95-100 mm) and the bigger ones (105-125 mm). There is definitely a difference in coloration, the spiral bands in the large type are more accentuated, the base color is less strong and contrasted than in the smaller type. The bigger type is also of a duller brown. Possibly the shells come from two different fishing areas around Balut/Sarangani Islands. Who knows? Our gorgeous piece here offered belongs to the smaller form, but still measures over 100 mm. The present Conus cervus is almost too good to be true: the condition is fantastic, gem with a thick lip and with protoconch, the coloration is fantastic dark chocolate brown as can be seen. It takes years and years to get such a piece. For connoisseurs and conologists. To keep until the end of the life.
