| Note | F+++, Maltese Archipelago, Filfla Island. One of the rarest species worldwide, living only in a small Island near Gozo, Filfla, which is approximately 700 m long, only 25000 square meters. The island is off-limit, as it is now a marine reserve, and it is also dangerous to go there because during WW2 the island was used as target for cannons and planes and it is filled of unexploded bombs. This specimen was collected by Despott in July 1915 during an expedition he did in Filfa. Despott was a Maltese malacologists and the curator of the National Museum of Natural History of Mdina, Malta. This is a historical specimens. The only chance to get it! |
