NoteF++/F+++. Live taken orange-brown colored specimen. We removed the perio ourselves. Very rare color variant. Small growth line, not harming the charms of the piece. This species was for all collectors a nightmare as it was not collected for almost 300 years, despite the fact that shells were known to exist in a Dutch collection already in 1719. We even don't know why Linnaeus did not describe the shell, as there was one in Uppsala, in the Queen Ulrica collection. Read Dance, 1969 on this. Most shells are dark brown or even blueish, but very rare orange-tinted pieces as this one come up very sporadically. A fresh piece in fine condition only, as there is a growth mark on the lower left near the aperture. Prestigious. Philippines. Balut Island. Tangle nets. 100-150 m. deep. 2010. #618382
