Family | Terebridae |
Name | Hastula hotumatuai - New species! Live-Coll. , Terryn & Gori, 2022 |
Size | 18 mm |
Locality | Rapa Nui (Easter Island), Chile |
Note | One very nice and live-collected specimen of the recently described Hastula hotumatuai Terryn & Gori, 2022. This specimen was live collected by a French researcher at Easter Island in 1957!. It still has its operculum and soft parts dry inside the shell as can be seen, but unfortunately the lip is broken as can be seen in the images. This is a rare species, as they have not been reported live-collected and in fact its radula and operculum have not been described yet! (see Terryn & Gori, 2022). An interesting new species from a very remote locality. |
