| Note | LOTTIIDAE - Lottia limatula (Carpenter, 1864). First time I can offer this rare species from my region. I have never found this before. Very wide beauty. With 34mm long and 30.4mm wide this amazing intact specimen is very hard to obtain. It was so hard to get between rocks, sea urchins , strong currents and big waves. Fully eroded on the dorsal side with great white color and the ventral part and lip are complete intact. The ventral glossy side is coming with a great large brownish spot with elegant design. F++. Apparently feeding on the algae in the stones and marine soup that comes and goes with the currents, waves and seaweeds, this species lives where the waves break and in the intertidal zone. Really hard to remove from stones without braking them. Found attached to the rocks with green and brown algae about 1m deep. Playa el Tecuan, Jalisco, Mexico. May 2025.
