| Note | THE BEST STRIPES YOU WILL SEE WOOOOOW!! LOTTIIDAE - Lottia mitella (Menke, 1847). Impressive and colossal specimen for the species with the best stripes pattern ever. Usually this uncommon species are in special rocks in the intertidal zone with a small number. Hard to get and lucky me , I have found one of the best banded with superb black-white pattern. The ventral part is just stunning with magnificent black spotted tiny ring around the inner lip, shinny callous white background color with large brown dark colors in the middle. The dorsal is coming with a great thick axial ribs all around between the dense erosion on top. The best selection for the species. Some erosion as usual on the top of the shell not detracting the beauty. Apparently feeding on the marine soup that comes and goes with the currents, waves and seaweeds, this species lives where the waves break and in the intertidal zone. Really hard to remove from stones without braking them. Found attached to the rocks with green and brown algae at extremely low tide. Islotes los Lobos Marinos, near Melaque, Jalisco, Mexico.
