Note | One very nice live-collected specimen of Crassilabrum crassilabrum. This is a common Muricidae species which lives in the rocky intertidal, where it feeds on cirripedians. This specimen was collected alive and its soft parts are dry inside the specimen, including the operculum. This is the best condition for the species, preserving all its frills and with an enormously expanded and thick lip (as it name indicates). As can be seen it can be cleaned further, to reveal the very white frills (it was lightly cleaned with only soft brushes and little soap). |
