Name | Scurria ceciliana - Very plane! , (A. d’Orbigny, 1841) |
Size | 13.5 mm |
Locality | Caldera, northern Chile |
Note | One very nice specimen of the endemic limpet Scurria ceciliana. This species lives on rocks and it is often heavily covered by algae and encrusting organisms, but this specimen is quite clean and it shows the nice pattern of alternating dark and light rays in the dorsum, and a very nice shiny interior. The specimen is also very plane, which is rare in ceciliana because they usually have very concave and deep shells. |
