Siphonaria lessonii - Very nice , Blainville, 1827
Size
9.6 mm
Locality
Caldera, northern Chile
Note
One nice specimen of the pulmonate limpet Siphonaria lessonii. This is a pulmonate marine limpet which lives in the upper part of the intertidal zone. It appears that it has some variation in their shells or that they represent a few cryptic species. This specimen was collected washed ashore fresh dead among algae rubble in a beach in northern Chile and it is excellent condition for the species, having a dorsum sculptured with radial ribs and a very shiny interior of the shell. A low price for an interesting species from the SE Pacific Ocean.
