The current specimen is of the finest possible quality – about as close to perfection as this species ever attains. Immaculate – pure ivory – with none of the typical substrate discoloration which detracts from the majority of examples. Retention of delicate apex. Completely natural apertural lip in exemplary state of preservation, with no artificial smoothing. In a different league to the majority of specimens. Data: Off Kaohsiung, Taiwan; upon sand/mud substrate; 100-200 m; trawled; 1980. Size: 88.8 mm. Grading: Gem. Provenance: JES Collection; London / Melbourne. |
