| Note | For offer here is one of the true RAREST FORMS of zoila. Much rarer than the Z.rosselli collected off the mainland, which are rare to find as it is, this form known for its HYPER CALLOUSED MARGINS and ELEGANT SHAPE with ROSTRATE ENDS is easily one of the most attractive shells known. This specimen has all the classic characteristics of this form along with the DARK DORSUM with a thin strip of lighter colour which is another distinguishing feature of this subspecies! F+/F++ with some obvious algae inclusions over the dorsum and some blistering on the base of the shell which are visible in photos but NO chips or growth lines. Diver collected at the base of a small purple cup sponge on low profile limestone, covered with small sponges and red+green algae at 47m. Middle Group, Abrolhos Islands, W.A. May 2014 |
