| Note | Here is a SUPER BULBOUS example of this highly variable species. Once a more common species to obtain; it's now become one of the more uncommon species of Zoila due to lack of fresh specimen being collected. This shell has a DARK MOTTLED pattern with a few small BLUE WINDOWS showing through on the dorsum. HEAVILY CALLOUSED MARGINS surround the shell which are covered with large, attractive spots. The pattern along with the ULTRA ROUNDED shape makes for a wonderful specimen! Gem- with a super small area of roughness on the anterior canal but most would still call gem. Live taken amongst sponges and various marine growths in heavy sponge garden bottom at 48m. South Western side of Termination Island, South of Esperance, Recherche Archipelago, W.A. 2007 |
