Note | Visually brilliant palmarosae with impressive knobby erect foliaceous structures, spire and siphonal canal. Wonderful tones of light brown and sienna complemented by intricate pin-stripping on the body whorls The desirable characteristics of this specimen include elaborate striking spines branching into exceptional fronds fringed in subtle shades of violet and white. Siphonal canal intact, with perfect aperture lip and pink apex. Collected off Trincomalee, Sri Lanka on sand and grass bottom substrate by net at 20-25 meters in 7/2024. Heavy shell at 63.7 grams. The specimen shows slight wear of some folliaceous processes, erosion of the protoconch and a chip on the siphonal columellar canal (trailing edge). Grade: F++/F+++. |
