| Note | Large and ocean weathered specimen with a tremendous display of spines. Thick and solid shell, with excellent form. About as big as they get, the leading varix spines are strong and intact. A collectors Muricid, due to the size, with dark brown hued long spines appreciated in both laterally oriented images. The shell comes with original operculum, thick aperture lip, intact siphon and varying shades of brown highlighting the overall visual impact. Found attached between stones among mud substrate at 7-8 meters by free diver off Cébaco Island, Panama circa 2000. The specimen exhibits wear and tear of the apex and spire, notable erosion/pitting of the mid-dorsal body whorl, and attrition/erosion of the trailing spines with some pitting. Grade: F++. |
