| Note | Large and exceptionally ornate example of this rare South Seas cone. Heavy shell with fantastic symmetrical and fine reticulated tenting, strong dark brown coloration painted on a china white body whorl canvas (42 grams). The specimen displays a perfect protoconch, strong nacre gloss and a flawless short spire. The graceful natural lip is thick, including the aperture notch. Collected on fine muddy sand at 25 meters at night using Scuba by Paul Kanner in Taioha'e Bay, Nuku Hiva, Marquesas in 2000. The specimen comes with the original data slip written by Paul. The shell displays a growth fold on the mid-dorsal body whorl and a second minor wooble toward the lip. Grade: F+++. |
