| Note | Amazingly patterned cone displaying notable circumferential dark tan bands punctuated by intricate black/white dashes and dots. A large cone that stands alone in it's unique pattern, which are characteristic of the species. This is a large and heavy specimen for the species (47.6 grams). The cone was taken off a sand/rubble bottom at 8-10 meters by free-diver in 1978 off Luanda, Angola, West Africa. Being a larger specimen, it features a thick natural lip, a typical series of mild growth folds on the dorsal body whorl (as viewed in images) and the expected erosion of the protoconch attributed to old age. Grade: F++/F+++. |
