Conus dalli - DARK & HANDSOME , Stearns R.E.C. 1873
Size
53.7 mm, w/o
Locality
Cebaco Island, Panama
Note
Beautifully patterned specimen with marked undulating longitudinal body whorl lines and three strong mini-tented white-based axial bands. The longitudinal interrupted and undulated dark brown stripes complement the broad field of complex white tenting. The cone features a natural lip with intact spire and protoconch. The shell exhibits a super glossy body and wonderful darkly pigmented pattern. Collected by the late/great Paul Kanner off Cebaco Island, Panama in 2/2004 while free diving at 4-6 meters under large rocks on sand substrate. Original data slip from Paul included. The specimen has some palpable roughness of the anterior lip. Grade: GEM minus.
