| Note | Dark pigmented, super elegant, superb form and moderately inflated body characterize this specimen. This species is now difficult to obtain from the deep waters of Eastern Australia. Intense lateral wall spotting, unique dorsal line and thick impressive nacre gloss highlight this beauty. The shell shows a mellow dorsal pattern, with an anterior groove on a dark caffe latte nude pigmented moderately calloused anterior extremity. There is some modest tuberculation of the margins evident. This heavy weight/size ratio shell (50.7 grams) was trawled at 120-150 meters by a prawn boat off Swains Reef, Queensland, Australia in 2022. The specimen presents with negligible silt stains on the base teeth and aperture. Grade: GEM minus |
