Note | Lovely marginata with modest rostration, a relatively flat base humped dorsum and excellent spotting/maculae of the margins and base. The specimen shows an excellent nacre, flawless extremities with notable flaring and tuberculation of the margins. The body is slightly inflated, shows a wide aperture that is china-white. The shell was taken on a cave wall west of James Service Reef at 14 meters on a geodia sponge by the great Suba diver Andrew Edinger. Original data slip included. The reef is an outcropping in Comet Bay, Western Australia. The specimen displays one little mini wobble at the mid-columellar lateral wall/margin intersection. Grade: GEM minus. |
