Note | Lovely example of Umbilia, with a distinctive marigold orange dorsal botch, super thick glossy nacre and perfect extremities that are highlighted by darker burnt orange color tones. The shell is moderately heavy for its size and shows remarkable form and a subtle mantle line paired by rows of smaller dots toward the lateral wall. The shell is wonderfully inflated and well rostrated. Trawled at 130-150 meters off the western Great Australian Bight, Eucla, Western Australia. The specimen shows one moderate transverse growth fold on the anterior ramp. Grade: F+++/GEM minus. |
