Note | Spectacular rare specimen with outstanding nacre gloss and perfect extremities. The shell glows with a pale ivory toned dorsum and beige pigmented siphons. Mild lateral wall spotting on both lateral walls along with modest rostration and excellent body inflation. A collectors "rare trophy" shell with memorable pigmentation for this elusive, hard to come by, subspecies. Trawled and collected as bycatch by Prawn fisherman at 12-140 meters off Hydrographer's Passage, Queensland, Australia in 2001. Ex: Don Pisor collection. The specimen shows light silt staining inbetween the central base aperture teeth and a short growth fold on the anterior ramp. Grade: F+++/GEM. |
