Note | Tall spire, heavy rhomboid shaped and pronounced frondose processes characterize this endemic from the Hawaiian Islands (54.9 grams). The shells features large intervarical ridges with a light brown body whorl primary tone and dark to chestnut brown spiral cords and grooves on the body whorl. The shell has an intact protoconch, spire, porcelain white aperture and intact foliated spines on all three varices. The shell was taken by Scuba diver at 20 meters on a hard reef with rubble, off Makaha, Oahu, Hawaii in 12/1993. The shell has a chip of the siphonal canal columellar medial edge terminus, several worm holes on the spire and ventral body whorl with two chipped mid-dorsal processes. Grade: F+/F++. |
