| Note | A very large and impressive specimen of this spectacular subspecies, exhibiting rich and beautiful colour – particularly at the columella. A. a. bayoli is rare in comparison with the nominate subspecies, with the majority of specimens illustrated as bayoli across the literature being, in fact, A. achatina. True bayoli exhibits a brilliant white ground, decorated with dramatic axial maculations of chocolate; rich pink-orange early whorls; and a striking rich pink-mauve columella. Now difficult to obtain, especially at this level of quality and beauty. Data: Forest region of Bowakam, Grand Bassa County, Liberia; upon soil substrate, amongst leaf litter, during dry season; November-April 1991. Size: 114.8 mm. Grading: Fine+++.
