| Note | THE "COLLECTOR COLLECTED": A GIANT XENOPHORID. One of the finest Xenophora when in beautiful condition, which is not an every day view. The present piece is just stunning. The size is impressive when viewed. In fact, an excellent piece for competitions on shell shows. Apart from the size two more qualities put the piece on a superior level: the row of black stones, contrasting with the pale shell is great: they are attached all on their smallest side, the length of the stones pointing to the bottom. This animal was intelligent: it augmented the "windows" to lurk outside from below theshell. The last attachment is marble, kind of quartz. On top of this row of impressive basic attachments, there are sitting three bivalve Chama on the shell, most probably Chama cerion Reeve, 1846, an uncommon species. Award winning piece.
