Name | Zoila venusta episema f. armeniaca - EXTREMELY RARE OFFERING , SELDOM SEEN PINK DORSUM & EQUALLY RARE MANTLE LINE |
Size | 66.2 mm |
Locality | Rottnest Is., Western Australia |
Note | EXTREMELY RARE OFFERING......As depicted in Lorenz's books (further explained in the provenance). Quite stunning with a seldom seen pink dorsum and equally rare mantle line - in first image labral side intentionally raised to better appreciate the mantle line. Rich ginger & tan decorations, characteristic to armeniaca form, and unique deep-coloured canal saddles and margins. Ultra-mature. Ultra-heavy. No nacre issues, which these are nearly always susceptible to. A small crease, totally inoffensive, and natural (not a defect). Grade: Gem-. Provenance: from my own collection. Dived on sponge inside large cave system; 12m; Roe Reef, Rottnest Island, Western Australia. Venusta episema f. armeniaca is illustrated in Felix Lorenz’s books: A Guide to the Gastropod Family Cypraeidae Volume 2 (pages 206 & 207) and Volume 1 (page 328). |
