| Note | The Thylacodes colubrinus is an amazing large snail which lives in a tube, attached to the substrate, most often in coral middens. In the literature this species is still called "Serpulorbis colubrinus", but we here follow WoRMS, the name confirmed by Rosenberg & Bieler. We have only information about the Philippines and Vietnam as locality, but I suppose nowhere else people were courageous enough to do the tremendous job to collect even one. The shells are firmly attached to the corals and/or stones or sponges, and it takes tools to get them off the substrate. The snails sit in the tube, when not feeding covered by an operculum. When hungry they spread a net of mucus to attract floating plankton and algae and the like. They regularly pull in the "net", exactly as a fisherman does, and eat the contents.
Philippines. Palawan. 10-15 m. 2019.
