Family | Cypraeidae |
Name | Zoila jeaniana f sherylae - EXCEPTIONAL , Raybaudi 1990 |
Size | 67.4 mm |
Locality | Point Quobba, Western Australia |
Note | Exceptional, mature, moderately heavy and striking jeaniana sheryae with intense markings and deep blue/grey primary dorsal coloration complemented by large dark spotting on the lateral walls. The jeaniana shows a thick hyper-glossy nacre like polished crystal with a gorgeous dorsum and extremities. The shell is highlighted by modest rostration, strong marginal tuberculation and glazed pitch brown hued base. It shows a moderate/heavy weight/size ratio (36.5 grams) with a wonderful distribution of dorsal black maculae and spots fringed in brown. Collected with precision by Scuba diver Callum Edinger in 31 meters while dining on a blue Spirastrella sponge on a low profile limestone reef off Point Quobba, Western Australia in 6/2017. Handwritten data slip from Callum included. The specimen is hard to fault. Grade: GEM. |
