Note | Impressively large, shallow water, moderately heavy specimen (65 grams) that is an aesthetic masterpiece among friendii. The specimen shows a wide bluish/grey dorsal line and an unusual array of chestnut brown/black elongated maculae in a unique longitudinal array painted over the dorsal line. Mellow chocolate brown/flesh/black toned lateral walls with deep, keen spots above the margins that wrap around to the base on the columella side. Strongly rostrated, perfect base and flawless extremities with a thick glossy nacre. Collected on limestone reef while grazing on a yellow sponge at 12-15 meters by Scuba diver off Fremantle, Western Australia between 1988-2002 (circa 2000). The shell exhibits minor nacre delamination flecks along the posterior dorsal ramp. Grade: F+++/GEM. |
