| Note | Solid shell with strong weight/size ratio that characterize this unique gorgeous beauty from an exotic location. The shell has a glossy nacre and an excellent blotched/dashed spiral pattern glowing in blush/brick red primary body whorl hue. The shell demonstrates a flawless apex, spire and thick lip. The beautiful cone was tracked and collected by master Scuba diver Marty Beals during a night dive on course sand substrate at 25-26 meters off Mappa Rock, Taiohae Bay, Nuka Hiva, Marquesas Islands, French Polynesia in 10/1999 when these cones were formerly identified as Conus bullatus. Hand written data slip from Marty included. The specimen shows a growth disruption fold on the ventral posterior body whorl and shoulder. Grade: F+++. |
