| Note | Wonderfully balanced and aesthetic specimen with violet/purple rami and strong/prominent multicolored axial ribs. The symmetry of the elongate erect structures and the accentuated spreading of the leading and trailing axial structures is notable. The specimen displays a heavy weight/size ratio (62.0 grams). The shell was collected on giant boulders along a steep slope at 10-15 meters at the entrance of Taiohae Bay, Nuka Hiva, Marquesas in 11/2003 by the late Scuba diver John Phillips. The shell displays a worm trail on the ventral body whorl (upper left image), growth fold on the dorsum and erosion of the protoconch. Grade : F++. |
