Note | Gorgeous glossy nacre, large and exceptionally inflated armenica with an admirable wide subtle and pleasing columellar oriented golden dorsal blotch. The specimen displays an peekaboo dorsal line popping out only on the anterior and posterior ramps. The moderate shades of pastel orange on the dorsum classic spotting on the anterior ramp. The shell demonstrates a high weight/size ratio (133.2 grams). This specimen reveals perfect and strong flesh-toned/nude pigmented extremities. These specimens are rarely collected today after Australian restrictions were imposed beginning with the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999. Trawled at 170 meters on sand and rubble bottom in the Great Australian Bight, Port Lincoln, South Australia in the 90s. The shell exhibits a completely nacred lateral wall crease and associated depression on the posterior wall, as seen in the central and upper left images. Grade: F+++. |
