While relocating our vessel from Shark Bay back to Geraldton we were able to collect some praeclara west north west of Kalbarri in Western Australia. This specimen was collected in April 2024 from a bollard sponge in 77 metres of water.
It is a beautiful shell with big dark blotches over the dorsum, exposing a blue mantle line bordered with large dark spots. The base is nearly ink black and the sides boast a creamy apricot hue, bordering the dorsum with dark golden siphons.
Graded Gem- as a hint of a fold can be felt near the anterior siphon.
