Kurtiella compressa Very Rare
7.5 mm Caldera, northern Chile 5,00 € |
|
| Item | # 0003874567 |
| Family | BIVALVIA |
| Name | Kurtiella compressa - Very Rare , (Dall, 1913) |
| Size | 7.5 mm |
| Locality | Caldera, northern Chile |
| Note | A very nice specimen of the very rare species Kurtiella compressa, which has been cited previously only from the Juan Fernández Archipelago and so this is a new record for this hard to obtain species. This specimen was collected washed ashore in sand after a storm, and it has its soft parts dry inside. They are very flat bivalves, as its name indicates, and it is possible that they live associated with infaunal worms like Sipuncula or Echiura. A very low price for an interesting and rare species endemic from Chile. |
