|
| Item | # 0003916523 | | Family | Fissurellidae | | Name | Fissurella cumingi - Very Nice, Selected , Reeve, 1849 |
| Size | 83.5 mm |
| Locality | Caldera, northern Chile |
| Note | One nice specimen of Fissurella cumingi, a nice species of Fissurellidae similar to F. maxima but with a radial pattern often crossed by concentric patterns, giving a tartan pattern. The shell is also thinner, more concave, and more sharper in the border. This specimen is preserved in its natural condition, lightly cleaned, and it is in very good condition for the species, with some minuscule nicks in the border, and a natural dorsum cleaned (can be oiled) with some flaws, as can be seen in the images. You can mineral-oil it to increase the contrast and show the nice colors of the dorsum. I have received several of these cleaned specimens, which I am here offering for cheap. |
