| Note | Fantastically spotted and richly pigmented specimen with impressive colors, two amazing longitudinal dorsal bands painted on a ivory primary color, exquisite form and hyper-glossy nacre lustre are unmatchable. Super shape and symmetry with strong inflation, modest extremity rostration with excellent weight/size ratio (71.5 grams). The melting integrated four shades of brown pigmentation on the labral lateral wall along with the incredible cascading array of spots approaches legendary proportions (central image). A hot show-off shell in the best of collections. The shell exhibits perfect extremities, aperture and base. Collected by the legendary Scuba diver Peter Clarkson at 12 meters while grazing on a yellow Neofibular sp. sponge attached to a 30cm rock situated on an eroded limestone reef ledge east of Duke of Orleans Bay, Esperance, Western Australia in 5/2008. Original hand written data slip from Peter included. The shell displays a minor short glazed crease on the columellar anterior ramp not visible in images. Grade: F+++/GEM. |
