| Note | Beautifully colored large specimen for the avid murex collector, previously known as Chicoreous crocatus. The specimen exhibits a distinct light merigold /orange/brown patched body whorl coloration extending to darker shades of apricot/orange on the incurved foliaceous processes and rami (fronds). The shell shows superb anatomical sculpturing with intact spire, aperture and siphonal canal. There is present minor chipping on the anterior siphonal canal. A wonderful representative specimen for the species. Taken by tangle net by local fishermen at about 100 meters off Pilas island, Mindanao, Philippines in 2024. The specimen shows slight erosion of the apex and some encrusting growths and wear on the foliaceous processes. Grade: F+++. |
