| Note | Large, inflated and hyper-calloused member of this striking Hawaiian species. These definitely reach bigger sizes in Hawaii. Brilliant color, bright reticulated pattern with thick calloused margins with beautiful dark lateral wall spotting extending over the margins and peripheral base. A solid gorgeous shell with superb sparkling nacre and a centered dorsal line. The specimen has perfect extremities and dorsum and an excellent weight/size ratio (67.1 grams). Discovered and removed off Kaena Point, Oahu, Hawaii on night dive while hiding in a cave wall at 20-25 meters. There are evident a minor glazed divot (concavity) on the posterior labral base margin, a typical developmental anomaly, and not a self-repaired injury. Grade: GEM minus. |
