NoteTrue melanesiae, not a small adusta. Rare specimen, collected north-west of the known distribution range for the species (Papua New Guinea - Solomons). Typical small size, characteristic strong orange-reddish teeth. Very good quality for the species: like adusta, these shells are never gem in the true sense of the term. This specimen has small waterspots on the labral margin and anterior tip and a white inclusion by the teeh in the columellar side, visible in the ventral image. Dived, back in the Eighties, off the Guam Orote Field in 15 mt on coral rubble at night. Shadows and white marks are reflections from the camera.
