| Note | A VINTAGE PONDEROSUM IN LARGE SIZE AND GREAT CONDITION. With fresh colors despite having been fished by now 32 years ago. This is a truly rare species, seldom seen in collections. Most records in the literature are from Japan, but apparently the species has a taste for lonely islands: recorded as such from AmamiOshima, Okinawa, Tonga, Pitcairn and Rurukua. Also offshore Japan from Tanegashima. So rare that one could only trace 15 pieces in the literature. From the 5 pieces Conchology Inc. handled in 18 years, this is the 2nd biggest. Wonderful item. F++, almost gem. A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to acquire such an exquisite piece.
