| Name | Ceratostoma foliatum - SPIRAL PATTERN , Gmelin 1791 |

| Note | Wonderful specimen with delicate varices and standout dark pigmented body whorl that transitions into stunning white wing terminals with profound flutes and channeling. Subtle shades of light brown with dark brown/coffee rays of color highlight the body whorl impact. The color rotates beautifully in a spiral pattern, accentuating the appeal of this specimen. The shell exhibits thick wings showing exceptional terminal fluting on the varix edges. The rock shell has an intact spire, intact siphonal canal and aperture lip. Collected by Scuba diver at 10-15 meters on rocks between large kelp outcroppings off the Channel Islands, California in 2008. The shell shows slight erosion on the thinner varix edges. Grade: F+++/GEM. |
